Top-class competition for Emma Raducanu at the "Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2021"

Linz, 13.10.2021 - "Power tennis fireworks"! This is what tennis fans can look forward to at the 31st WTA tournament "Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2021" from 6 to 12 November in the TipsArena! Because Emma Raducanuthe 18-year-old sensational winner of the US Open, will make her Linz debut against players who are eager not only to win the favour of the crowd, but also the tournament for the very first time!
 
Tournament director Sandra Reichel waited for the entry deadline and when they saw the list of participants published by the women's professional tennis organisation WTA, they knew: "It's going to be a tough battle to win the tournament! And there will be a first-time winner." Tournament ambassador Barbara Schett emphasises: "The density in the field of players is enormous, there are many different personalities. And with Emma Raducanu, a recent US Open winner, as well as Viktorija Golubic from Switzerland, an Olympic medallist who won silver in Tokyo this year with her partner Belinda Bencic. It's fantastic, I'm just looking forward to the tournament."

As reported, Emma Raducanu, ranked 22nd in the world, has confirmed her appearance in Upper Austria; only the qualification for the WTA Finals in Guadalajara (10 to 17 November), which overlap with the "Upper Austria Ladies Linz", could still prevent the young Brit from making her Linz debut. However, her chances of taking part in Mexico have plummeted following her opening defeat in Indian Wells.
 
Sandra Reichel names a few names who, alongside Emma Raducanu, are among the favourites for the Linz women's tennis classic:
 
Danielle CollinsThe 27-year-old American is currently in strong form, having won in Palermo (WTA 250) and San José (WTA 500) this summer.
 
Veronika Kudermetova, 24-year-old Russian, won the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston in April 2021.
 
Ekaterina AlexandrovaLinz finalist in 2018 and Linz semi-finalist in 2020! The 26-year-old Russian feels right at home on the hardcourt in the TipsArena.
 
Sorana Cirsteaa familiar face in Linz and has already become a fan favourite at the Upper Austria Ladies. The Romanian is having a strong and consistent year in 2021 after the coronavirus break; the 31-year-old won her second career title in Istanbul and also reached the final in Strasbourg.

Petra MarticThe 30-year-old Croatian is now coached by successful German coach Michael Geserer, who worked with Julia Görges for a long time.
 
Ajla Tomljanovicthe 28-year-old Australian with Croatian roots, is currently in the form of her life! She reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and played in the last 16 of the 1000 tournament in Indian Wells against the German Angelique Kerber (Linz winner in 2013). 

Marta Kostyuk19-year-old Ukrainian, is one of the top talents on the WTA Tour. 
 
Caroline Garcia, 27-year-old Frenchwoman, was already ranked fourth in the world and has won seven WTA tournaments.
 
But that's not all, because prominent names are also on the list of "alternates", the potential successors:
 
Above all Dajana Yastremska21-year-old young star from the Ukraine, Donna Vekic25-year-old Croatian and already a familiar face at the "Upper Austria Ladies Linz", as well as Hamburg winner Elena-Gabriela Ruse from Romania and Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus! The 27-year-old recently played her way into the limelight in Indian Wells - with sensational victories over US Open winner Emma Raducanu and Simona Halep, the former world number one!
 
To summarise: Sandra Reichel, Barbara Schett and their fans can look forward to a highly attractive mix of young stars and experienced players who will not only enjoy the famous "family feel-good atmosphere" at the second oldest women's indoor tennis tournament in the world, but also want to leave the state of Upper Austria with a trophy and prize money.
