Danielle Collins is rounding off the most successful year of her career at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2021. The 27-year-old American has won her first WTA tournaments this year. First on 25 July at the clay court tournament in Palermo with a 6:4, 6:2 victory in the final against Elena-Gabriele Ruse, who had also won the WTA tournament in Hamburg organised by Sandra Reichel. Collins celebrated tournament win number two on hard court in San Jose on 8 August (6:3, 6:7, 6:1 in the final against Darja Kasatkina).

Danielle Collins achieved her first notable results on the WTA Tour in 2019 at the Australian Open, after victories over Angelique Kerber and Anastasiya Pavlyuchenkova she surprisingly reached the semi-finals, where she lost to Petra Kvitová lost. She then achieved her best world ranking to date with 23rd place.
