Start of the Upper Austrian insurance company's sustainability campaign at Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2025

Upper Austria is blossoming! The 34th edition of the WTA 500 Upper Austria Ladies Linz event from 26 January to 2 February 2025 will once again focus on a comprehensive sustainability concept. In addition to measures to avoid waste, the use of glassware and reusable cups and cooperation with many regional partners, every ace hit by the professional tennis players will once again be turned into an ace for nature.

Following the "Every ace a tree" (2023) and "Every ace a honeycomb" (2024) campaigns, the "Every ace - 1 m² of seed" initiative was launched this year. The Upper Austrian insurance company provides flower meadow seed for 1 m² of greenery in Upper Austrian municipalities for every ace that is beaten. Upper Austrian municipalities can register for the campaign before the start of the tournament. The total amount of seed will be raffled off to one of the participating municipalities at the end of the tournament.

Almost 350 aces were beaten at the last tournament. Upper Austria even doubled the number at the end, so that a total of 700 honeycombs could be purchased for young beekeepers.

The tournament director of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz, Sandra Reichel, is delighted with the new initiative and the partnership with the loyal partner: "I would like to express my special thanks to Oberösterreichische Versicherung and its two board members Othmar Nagl and Kathrin Kühtreiber-Leitner for their long-standing and, above all, creative commitment to the Upper Austria Ladies Linz. The idea of providing flower meadow seeds for communities for every ace that is beaten fits perfectly into our sustainability concept and our anchoring as the top sporting event in Upper Austria."

"The Upper Austria Ladies Linz is not only a sporting highlight for Upper Austria, but also an environmentally conscious one! With the 'Every ace - 1 m² of seed' campaign, we want to make our province a little greener. Together with the local communities and the tennis pros at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz, we are taking another step towards a sustainable future with our campaign. Let's set an example together for environmental protection and regional solidarity," emphasise Othmar Nagl and Kathrin Kühtreiber-Leitner, General Director and CEO of Oberösterreichische Versicherung.

The Upper Austria Ladies Linz has not only been certified as a green event in recent years, but has also been recognised both nationally and internationally for its commitment to sustainable sporting events.
