The Upper Austria Ladies Linz "celebrates" the tennis mums

What do Germany's Angelique Kerber, Ukraine's Elina Svitolina, Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki and Japan's Naomi Osaka have in common?

They are all tennis players who were high up in the world rankings, have had a baby in recent years and are now back on the tennis circuit - and most of them are very successful.

Angelique Kerber delivered a memorable match at the United Cup between Germany and hosts Australia on her comeback after maternity leave in January 2024. In the semi-final, the player from Kiel came through 4:6, 6:2 and 7:6 (9/7) against Ajla Tomljanovic after a great display of energy - after 2:34 hours of play! The German team faced Poland in the final, and Kerber celebrated her 2:1 triumph in the final alongside Olympic champion Alexander Zverev.

It was a point of honour that Angelique Kerber, a former Linz winner, continued her comeback season this year at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz. At the Masters tournament in Indian Wells, the German advanced to the round of 16 a short time later, and the defeat in the duel between the tennis mums against Caroline Wozniacki was easy to get over. It will be exciting to see how far Kerber can get this year on her favourite surface, the grass at Wimbledon!

Our tournament ambassador Barbara Schett and tournament director Sandra Reichel had already labelled last year the "Year of Mothers" on the WTA Tour in view of the successes of Svitolina, Wozniacki and Co. The Upper Austria Ladies Linz would like to congratulate all mothers and especially all tennis-playing mothers on Mother's Day on 12 May! And the Linz women's tennis classic also has a Mother's Day present for all tennis fans:

You can now purchase a Mother's Day gift voucher worth EUR 20, 35, 50, 75 or 100 for the 34th Upper Austria Ladies Linz from 26 January - 2 February 2025.

The Mother's Day vouchers are available from our voucher shop or directly from this link available.

The Upper Austria Ladies Linz has been a WTA 500 event since this year and is held at the Design Centre Linz.
