Lilli Tagger receives main draw wild card - Austrian Women's Day on Tuesday, 7 April

Austria's tennis fans should mark next Tuesday in their diaries. 7 April 2026 will be the „Day of the Austrians“ at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz. The centrepiece of the WTA 500 tournament will be Lilli Tagger's debut appearance in the Upper Austrian capital. The 18-year-old red-white-red tennis hopeful was the first player to receive a wildcard from tournament director Sandra Reichel for the main draw of Austria's biggest women's sporting event. It is planned that Tagger will play her first match in Linz on Tuesday at 4 pm (live on ORF1). Changes at short notice cannot be completely ruled out.

Julia Grabher, Austria's number one, is also due to play her first round match on this day. The Vorarlberg native has moved up into the main draw due to the cancellations of Barbora Krejcikova, Emma Navarro and Antonia Ruzic through injury. The allocation of the other wildcards will be decided by the main draw on Easter Sunday.

„I feel pretty comfortable on clay and playing in front of a home crowd is always something special. There's really nothing better. As a preparation tournament for Roland Garros, it's just right. I'm really looking forward to it and can hardly wait,“ said Tagger, who recently received wildcards for the Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, where she won a round each time.

Tickets for the Austrian Women's Day on 7 April and all other days of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz are available in the online ticket shop at www.ladieslinz.at available.
