Sinja Kraus makes it to the qualifying final

That's what you call a perfect start! Austria's number one has successfully mastered her first challenge at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2025. The Viennese showed an extremely solid performance on the centre court at the Linz Design Center and won 6:1, 6:2 against Nuria Parrizas-Diaz from Spain. "It's always really special to play here in Linz, there were also some friends here. I hope that everyone will be back tomorrow," said Kraus after her victory.

The 22-year-old now faces an Austrian-Swiss duel. She will face Viktoria Golubic, who beat Belgium's Ysaline Bonaventure 6-3, 6-0, in the second match after 10 a.m. on Monday.

However, the three other Austrian starters were eliminated. Tamara Kostic, Liel Marlies Rothensteiner, who kept up really well against former Linz finalist Petra Martic, and Mavie Österreicher, the winner of the "Young Ladies Wildcard Challenge", each lost in two sets, but gained important experience for the future on the centre court in the Design Center.

The first main draw matches are also on the programme on Monday. For example, the 2023 Linz winner Anastasia Potapova will be playing in the doubles. Sorana Cirstea (Romania) will then play against Arantxa Rus from the Netherlands in the "Night Session" (not before 6 pm). Cirstea is celebrating a small anniversary as she is competing in Linz for the tenth time. She made her debut in 2019 and celebrated her greatest success on the Danube two years later when she marched through to the quarter-finals with five consecutive wins in qualifying.
