Everybody's darling

Glitz, glamour and records! Ana Ivanovic has secured herself a permanent place in the history books of Upper Austria Ladies Linz, and not just because of her impressive sporting achievements.

2008 was probably the most successful year of her career with her French Open victory. Ivanovic was also unstoppable in Linz, delivering a truly gala performance in the final against Vera Zvonareva and winning her first title in Upper Austria. Two years later, having failed to win a single tournament in the intervening period, she again prevailed against all competition and delivered another gala performance in the final against Patty Schnyder. Only Angelique Kerber, who was able to hold her own in the duel between the two friends in 2013, prevented the „Linz Triple“.

One very special title, however, is no longer out of Ivanovic's reach: As the most successful player in the history of Upper Austria Linz, the Upper Austrian capital has a very special place in the heart of the former world number one and 2008 French Open winner.

This also became clear in 2024 when Ana Ivanovic visited the tournament. She immediately felt at home again! „It's nice to see Peter-Michael and Sandra Reichel or tournament ambassadors Babsi Schett again. It brings back a lot of memories in Linz. I'm delighted that the tournament has been upgraded, they've worked hard for it! It's such a nice tournament and the people here really look after the players,“ said the Serbian. Ana Ivanovic and Linz - that is and remains a very special relationship!
