This is a great opportunity for Sinja Kraus! Austria's number one will be in the spotlight today, Monday, at the Design Centre in Linz. In the second match after 10 a.m., the 22-year-old has the opportunity to secure her ticket for the main draw of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz against Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic.
For the Austrian Billie Jean King Cup player, that would undoubtedly be a huge success. In her opening match against Nuria Parizzas Diaz from Spain (6:1, 6:2), it was clear from the start how much she had planned for her home match.
"It's always really special to play here in Linz, and some of my friends were there too. I hope that everyone will be back tomorrow," said Kraus jubilantly after her convincing victory in an interview with Barbara Haas. Will there be a second strike today? She can certainly rely on the support of the Linz tennis fans!
The Viennese also has the opportunity to follow Julia Grabher into the main draw as the second Austrian. Grabher, who is looking to make her way back to the top of the world after a long break due to a wrist injury, was a guest at yesterday's draw presented by LINZ AG.
In her first match on Tuesday, she will take on the 2023 Linz winner Anastasia Potapova. This is just one of several real highlights in the first round, which starts today!

Katerina Siniakova at the Upper Austria Ladies 2024
In addition to three matches in the doubles competition, in which the newly crowned Australian Open winner Katerina Siniakova will also be competing, the first two singles matches are also on the programme.
We are looking forward to an eventful and long day of tennis at the Deisgn Centre - and are betting everything on Sinja Kraus and red-white-red!
That was the first big highlight of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz! The draw, which was organised together with LINZ AG for the tenth time, ensured a very special start to the tournament. The ceremony took place in a very special place this year: In the LINZ AG waste disposal fleet hall. Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska, Clara Tauson (Denmark) and local favourite Julia Grabher took part - and of course the mascot "Mampfi" was also there.
"I'm extremely happy to be playing here again. The draw could be easier, but only good players play here, so I was expecting a tough first round. But I'm looking forward to it and of course I'm hoping for home support against Anastasia Potapova."

"We always endeavour to present something special at the draws. LINZ AG hasmany different business areas and this year we have deliberately chosen the topic of sustainability and recycling. With our electric waste vehicle, we simply have our finger on the pulse of the times."

World-class players in Linz
The time had come at the weekend: the top players travelled to Linz. Maria Sakkari, who reached the semi-finals of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz two years ago, kicked things off. The most successful Greek player of all time is looking forward to one thing in particular: a delicious schnitzel!
Sunday also saw the arrival in Linz of top seed Karolina Muchova and Eva Lys, who experienced a real tennis fairytale when she reached the round of 16 in Melbourne.

Strong game
Building on old successes
They know how to win in Linz and want to build on their old successes in this year's qualifiers. Petra Martic, Linz finalist in 2019, and Jodie Burrage, who only reached the quarter-finals in Linz last year, were in top form in their opening matches yesterday and will play in the qualifying final for the main draw today.
The Austrians Tamara Kostic, Liel Marlies Rothensteiner and Mavie Österreicher, on the other hand, were eliminated, although they did more than creditably. Especially the 20-year-old Rothensteiner and Österreicher, who won the "Young Ladies Wildcard Challenge", came close to winning a set. We are already looking forward to seeing them again!
Ice hockey meets tennis
Guest of the Black Wings Linz
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz were actively supported by players from Upper Austria Ladies Linz in today's 8:1 home win against Olimpija Ljubljana. True to the motto "tennis meets ice hockey", the tournament was also represented in the Linz AG Eisarena by Tang Qianhui, WU Fang-Hsien, Angelica Moratelli, Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers and Anna Blinkova. Tomorrow the tables will be turned and the ice hockey cracks will support the ladies in their matches.
"Young Ladies Wild Card Challenge"
Triple for Mavie Österreicher
22-year-old Mavie Österreicher has won the "Young Ladies Wildcard Challenge" of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2025 - for the third time! In the final of the tournament, which is traditionally held a week before the WTA event, Österreicher prevailed against Liel Rothensteiner at the OÖTV Performance Centre in Linz's Bockgasse. She was allowed to play on the centre court at the Design Center yesterday to kick off the day, but lost to Petra Martic despite a great performance.

A reason to celebrate
Anniversary for "Sori"
She is an absolute regular at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz. And today she is celebrating a very special anniversary. Sorana Cirstea is competing in Linz for the tenth time this year and will face Arantxa Rus from the Netherlands in her opening match (not before 6 pm). The former world number 21 celebrated her debut in 2009 and two years later enjoyed her greatest success on the Danube when she marched through to the quarter-finals with five successive wins in qualifying.
Nice to have you back with us, Sori!
